TCM: Herbs - Pubescent Angelica Root

Pubescent Angelica Root

独活 - Du Huo

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Du Huo is associated with the Kidney and Bladder Meridians.

This herb has a bitter, spicy flavour profile and is warm in nature.

Du Huo is often used for:

  • Dispelling wind-damp to relieve pain: For pain in the lower back such as sciatica and knees. Also for chronic or acute aches and pains in the extremities and joints. Du Huo is often combined with a herb called Sang Ji Sheng, as part of a formula effective for aches and pains in the lower body.

  • Releasing the exterior to dispel wind-cold-damp and kidney deficiency: For headache, chills, fever, joint pain, muscle aches and pain, aversion to cold, numbness and stiffness or a heavy sensation of the limbs.
