When there is free flow, there is no pain and when there is no free flow, there is pain.

痛则不通不通则痛

There is a Chinese proverb that says:

When there is free flow, there is no pain and when there is no free flow, there is pain.

This refers to a key principle of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It means that health depends on the free and unobstructed movement of Qi (vital energy) and blood in the body.

When your body feels pain, it means the balance in your body is disrupted, and your qi & blood are not flowing smoothly through your meridians.

Free Flow: This refers to the unimpeded movement of vital energy (Qi) and blood through the body’s channels (meridians). When flow is free, nutrients and energy reach all parts of the body, promoting health and preventing stagnation.

No Free Flow: This signifies a blockage, stagnation, or restriction in the flow of Qi and blood. Think of it like a dam in a river; one side is flooded with energy while the other is starved.

Pain: Pain is the direct result of these blockages. When Qi and blood get stuck, they create areas of congestion and deficiency, leading to pain.

Movement and Activity: To ensure free flow and prevent stagnation, movement is essential. Completing exercise regularly helps to promote the circulation of Qi and blood, easing pain and maintaining health.
