• High blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, stress and lack of exercise increase the risk of stroke.

• Blood stagnation, heart disease, atrial fibrillation, heart valve and carotid artery disease can cause the formation of blood clots.

• Qi stagnation is often caused by stress or qi deficiency which obstructs the meridians and can cause blood vessels to burst.
