About

Cupping therapy involves glass cups being placed onto the back along both sides of the spine, where the lymphatic glands are located. The cups may also be applied to other areas of the body depending on the individual condition. Using heat, the air is removed from inside the cups to create a vacuum which draws the skin up into the cups. This keeps the cups firmly in place. The vacuum creates a pulling sensation which is not generally considered painful with only a small number of people feeling some discomfort.

The cups are applied for 10-20 minutes, depending on the individual condition. For severe cases the cups may be moved over the body - this is called sliding cupping.

Scraping therapy also known as 'Gua Sha' therapy involves the rubbing and scraping of the skin with a blunt tool to facilitate healing, increase blood flow, remove built-up toxins, reduce inflammation, lactic acid build-up, arthritis, pain, and other conditions. The friction caused by the rubbing or scraping of the skin can create a little discomfort and affect the appearance of your skin. It is common for the blood vessels near the surface of your skin to burst which causes reddening and slight bruising.
