立冬 Li Dong - beginning of winter

Li Dong is the 19th of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese calender. It marks the arrival of winter. "Dong" indicates the “End”, meaning that crops need to be collected after the harvest. Thereafter, most parts of the country are expecting the severity of the season.


To Eat: dumplings, rice balls, mutton soup, silkie chicken, duck, ginger, black rice, longan, spinach, celery, chinese cabbage.


To Do: winter festival, avoid cold/ raw foods, drink herbs: fu ling, bai zhu, dang gui.
